English units

Continuamos con las unidades didácticas de inglés. En esta ocasión para P3 introducimos la canción del happy birthday celebrando el cumpleaños del titella Cheeky Monkey y algún vocabulario de comidas.

TOPIC 1: CHEEKY’S BIRTHDAY 5 LESSONS (FIRST TERM) P3

LESSON 1

  • Sing Hello song.
  • Explain Cheeky’s Birthday story (Cheeky monkey 1 Story Cards 5).

Waiter: It’s Cheeky’s birthday today. Cheeky, Rory, Ellie and Tom are coming to the restaurant to celebrate. La, la, la, la, la, la, la. I’ve got a sandwich, a biscuit, an ice-cream, and a big banana cake for Cheeky’s birthday.
Cheeky: Oh, I’m hungry.
Ellie: I’m hungry.
Tom: I’m hungry.
Rory: I’m hungry.
Waiter: La, la, la, la. Here’s a sandwich for Rory.
Rory: Thank you.
Waiter: Here’s a biscuit for Tom.
Tom: Thank you.
Waiter: Here’s an ice-cream for Ellie.
Ellie: Thank you.
Cheeky: And for me? I’m hungry.
Waiter: Oops! Sorry, Cheeky!
Cheeky: Oh!
Waiter: La, la, la. La, la, la. La, la, la. Here’s a big banana cake for you!

LESSON 3

  • Revise Cheeky’s Birthday story (Cheeky monkey 1 Story Cards 5).
  • Happy birthday worksheet: draw a cake.
  • Introduce Fruit song “I like apples”.
  • Sing bye bye song.
MATERIAL: Cheeky Monkey Puppet and box, Hello song, Bye bye song, Cheeky story cards 5, Happy birthday worksheet, “I like apples” song.

LESSON 4

  • Sing hello song.
  • Introduce vocabulary flashcards. Give the to the children and listen to the story (Cheeky monkey 1 Cd 2 track 8). Pause after each sentence and make the children with the listened flashcards come to the blackboard.
  • Sing Fruit song “I like apples”
  • Sing bye-bye song.

LESSON 5

  • Sing hello song.
  • Make the acting out of the story.
  • Play what’s in the bag: put in a bag a toy orange, apple and banana and make each child take one and say what it is before they take it out of the bag.
  • I like apples worksheet: paint the fruits on the song.
  • Sing bye-bye song.

La canción "I like apples" es de Matt de http://www.dreamenglish.com/. Tiene un montón de canciones cantadas por él con su guitarra y vídeos. Pueden descargarse para usarlos en clase. Si no le conocéis echarle un vistazo, os va a encantar. También le podéis encontrar en facebook.

En P5 aprendemos las partes de la casa con una historia de Cheeky Monkey.

TOPIC 2: CHEEKY’S HOUSE 6 LESSONS (FIRST TERM)

LESSON 1

  • Sing Hello and weather routine song.
  • Go to Cheeky’s house in the play mat.
  • Introduce rooms vocabulary with flashcards: living room, bathroom, bedroom, kitchen, door, garden. Mime things you do in each room so children guess the name before you show the flashcard.
  • Hide Cheeky flashcard under a room flashcard and make the children guess where it is.
  • Sing bye bye song.
MATERIAL: Cheeky Monkey Puppet, Hello song, Weather song, Bye bye song, Play mat, Rooms flashcards, Cheeky flashcard.

LESSON 2

  • Sing hello and weather routine song.
  • Play pictionary: draw slowly a room in the blackboard and make them guess. (draw all rooms)
  • Explain “What a surprise!” story (Cheeky 2, storycard 5)
  • Play where’s Cheeky: put under Cheeky’s flashcard a room flashcard and make the children guess which one is.
  • Sing bye-bye song.
MATERIAL: Cheeky Monkey Puppet, Hello song, Weather song, Bye bye song, Play mat, rooms flashcards, Cheeky flashcard, What a surprise storycards (Cheeky 2, storycards 5).

LESSON 3

  • Sing hello and weather routine song.
  • Introduce in and out flashcards. With gym circles on the floor show in or out flashcard and children have to jump in or out the circles.
  • Play rooms bingo.
  • Sing bye-bye song.
MATERIAL: Cheeky Monkey Puppet, Hello song, Weather song, Bye bye song, In and out flashcards, rooms flashcards, rooms bingo.

LESSON 5

  • Sing hello and weather routine song.
  • Art and craft: paint a sofa, a fridge, a toilet, a bed and flowers to decorate the class as cheeky’s house with the different rooms to make an acting out.
  • Sing bye-bye song.
MATERIAL: Cheeky Monkey Puppet, Hello song, Weather song, Bye bye song, material for art and craft.

LESSON 6

  • Sing hello and weather routine song.
  • Revise vocabulary with flashcards and while you show them give to the children so they make the acting out of the story.
  • Worksheet: match each character which each room: Cheeky-kitchen, Rory-linving room, Cat-bathroom, Granny-bedroom.
  • Sing bye-bye song.

  • Make a big – small mural with body vocabulary.

TOPIC 4: THE 3 LITTLE PIGS 5 LESSONS (FIRST TERM)

LESSON 1

  • Sing the “hello Cheeky” and weather song.
  • Show the children the three little pigs and introduce them to the children. Do the same with the big bad wolf
  • Explain the three little pigs story with the finger puppets
  • Stick the three little pigs flashcards on the blackboard and say: "My house will be made of ..." , and stick the corresponding house
  • Sing the “ bye bye “ song

MATERIAL: Cheeky Monkey Puppet, Hello song, weather song, Bye bye song, 3 little pigs story finger puppets, pigs and houses flashcards.

LESSON 2

  • Sing the hello and weather song.
  • Explain the story again with the finger puppets and revise the three types of houses
  • Stick the flashcards on the blackboard and ask Who's house is it?
  • Do the comprehention worksheet: match
  • Sing the Bye bye song.

MATERIAL: Cheeky Monkey Puppet, Hello song, weather song, Bye bye song, finger puppets, vocabulary flashcards, match worksheet.
LESSON 3
  • Sing the hello and weather song.
  • Stick the three little houses on the blackboard and write their names underneath and say: "my house will be made of..."
  • Ask for three volunteers to come to the blackboard, choose a pig puppet and say "my house..." Once the three little pigs have spoken, they sing the chant miming they're building their houses.
  • Do the worksheet: sing and draw who is afraid of the big bad wolf.
  • Sing the goodbye song.
MATERIAL: Cheeky Monkey Puppet, Hello song, weather song, Bye bye song, vocabulary flashcards, song worksheet.

LESSON 4

  • Sing the hello and weather song.
  • Do the worksheet punch doors: punch the doors so they can open and close. Stick a white paper on the back and draw each pig in his house. Paint the houses.
  • Sing the goodbye song.
  • MATERIAL: Cheeky Monkey Puppet, Hello song, weather song, Bye bye song, punch doors worksheet, “punxons”.

LESSON 5

  • Sing the hello and weather song.
  • Make the acting out by groups.
  • Sing the goodbye song.
